Default Akebono vs AcDeclo brake pads

Im looking to place some new brakes on my 09' Z06. I was leaning towards the Akebono or AcDelco. I wanted to see what current and passed users think about each pad and what the recommend. Im using car for regular driving. No track or racing.

Also, could you provide the product number for the Akebono and where to buy.

Thanks.

I had the Akebonos on my 08 coupe and they were great, but I dont think they make Z06 pads yet.

FWIW I put the Hawk Ceramics from GM Parts House on my 11 GS (because the Akebono didnt show a fitment) and I think they are a great blend of limited dust/stopping power for the street...but I would never use them on the track or any ultra high speed runs where I would have to stop fast.

I also use ceramics - in my case, Advance Auto house brand.

They have lasted 65000+ miles in daily driving use and still have life left. No dust on the wheels, my wheels stay clean.

I agree that they are not good for road course use - I cooked a set on my c5 not believing it, but it's true, they will not stand that use.

I do use them for drag race use all the time, 481 runs to date stopping from 130 or so. I also used them to stop from 180+ three times and they did fine in that use. It's the repeated hard use of the road course that they cannot stand up to.

I recommend ceramics to everyone who asks me. They will engage the anti lock brakes - so for street use you don't lose any of the Vette's great braking power. It might feel like it; they have a harder pedal than track pads, but I'll trade that for clean wheels any day.

Take a look at the Carbotech 1521 pad.

The Carbotech™ 1521™ is our high performance street compound. The 1521™ compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521™ is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech™ 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Carbotech™ 1521™ is NOT recommended for ANY track use.
