Battery voltage and Tender question
Sat I drove the car over 50 miles took it to work on Sunday 14 miles round trip no problem with battery, put it on battery tender JR Sunday night. Jump in the car on Tuesday evening drive about a mile go to dinner car will not start says 9.6 volts. Get it jumped drive home put it on the charger later (less then 4 hours) that night battery tender JR gives me a green light saying battery is 80% or more charged? take it to the shop to get test says batter is good just needs to be charged.
So the question:
1.Is this normal?
2. I don't think the battery tender jr could charge the battery that fast?
3. The voltage in the car when driving goes from 13.8 to 14.4 is what the Alternator is sending to the battery or what the battery has is in it.
4. If something is draining the battery how do i trouble shoot it and find the ghost?
Tonight i will clean the terminals with a wire brush. anything else i should try?
Thanks
Alex

You did not mention if the battery had been replaced earlier, if it is the OE battery you got your money's worth.
You mentioned new alternator so you may not have been charging that battery enough...
...Which may lead to sulfating, not allowing the battery to fully charge or maintain it for long.
Your jobber who tested the battery hopefully did more than a voltage check, either way try another battery.
Good luck
As mentioned, I don't think it's worth over thinking why things are happening the way they are, just put a new battery in it. It's time.
