Hey guys/gals,

This weekend i brought home my 2005 vette. I've been driving it all weekend with no problems. This morning i can't get it to turn over. The radio works, all the lights work fine but it won't crank. I can't get the hood to stay open either as the hydrolics won't keep it up. I don't know what's going on. Help!!!

I'm sure it's the battery. The C6 is very hard on them and you need to have it load tested. Most auto parts stores will do it free. Just because the lights and other accessories work doesn't mean the battery is good.

use something to prop up the hood or buy new struts, mine also failed after few years.
if battery is not the problem, 2005 has the service column lock that can cause problems. needs to be replaced or recently there is a bypass part from Corvettes of Houston that overrides it altogether.

Thanks for your responses. I did a little reading online and as a last resort, took the advice to disconnect the battery and re-connect after a few minutes. That did the trick!! I'm not sure why it needed to be reset or how often i will need to do this, but it seems to have worked. Of course the radio and all my settings need to be reset as well now.

My 2005 has done this a few times. I started keeping it on a battery tender when it's parked and it never did it again. The next time this happens look at the DIC. If you get a "service column lock" message its the steering column lock.

Odds are it's the battery.

As for the hood struts, just go buy some new ones.Had to replace them on my hood also. Like $25 each at GM.

Strange about loosing all the settings. I only need to reindex the windows on my 05. Nothing else gets lost.
