Actrons, regardless of particular model, seem to be the most popular around here. I think maybe it has a lot to do with their availability at many stores and reasonable prices. I haven't seen any bad posts about them. Just be sure you understand the strengths and/or limitations of the model you pick so you won't find out later that it doesn't do what you want to do.
The Innovas, I think, are just less popular because they aren't available in as many stores. They have been talked about here and seem to be as good and reliable as Actron.
I think you would be happy with either one as long as it does what you want to do.
I did a lot of research recently about the top-of-the-line model from both, and the Innova had better ratings. The main complaint about the 3160 was the lack of a USB cable, but now it has it. Bought mine from Amazon a few months ago; $200 shipped. Haven't needed it, but wanted one a while back; it's a nice tool to own. And this model also has ABS and SRS codes. By the way, you don't need the batteries when connected to the car, so I removed them, since it's in the cubbie, and it gets hot in there. You only need the batteries to view recorded stuff when not connected to the car. You can't really go wrong with either one, and none is perfect, but the Innova is reportedly easier to use, plus the ABS/SRS codes. Good luck.
