I got something very strange going on with my 07. It has happened twice. (yesterday the first time!) I normally know/understand the car, but this one has me stumped.
Info Car is a 07 Z06, about 15,000 miles no problems. Battery in car is good in fact it sits on a tender in a garage, tried both fobs and got the same result. Fob batteries (both) appear fine!
Went to open hatch, had fob in normal pocket, hit the hatch switch on car and nothing happened. Took fob out hit the hatch button on fob and nothing happened. Tried pushing unlocks and lock button nothing happened. Door was unlocked so opened door and interior lights came on. Sat in seat tried to start and got a click, got a no fob detected message & nothing happened, put fob in spot in glove compartment nothing happened. Had by accident hit headlight stalk and lights came on and then heard a click. Push start button and car started right up. Thought to myself funny thing sometimes happen to computer cars, then shut car off and went upstairs.
Today my detailer son was there to do the car and the same events happened again. Got a no fob detected notice. Turned on headlights got a click and car started right up when again pushed button...
There you know as much as I do and I’m totally lost, I realize this is a Saturday and hope someone has a clue. If not I will reword it and try again Monday. I do have an x warranty but want as much info in case I must see dealer next week. Car is going away for winter soon!
I would at least try to install new batteries in the fob... Even though they "appear" fine, it's an inexpensive shot to see. I had similar instances with my 2008 CTS and I just decided to throw a brand new battery in the fob and haven't had a problem since.

Good thought, thanks! Is that a easy to find battery in stores? Going shopping Monday, so will try it!
Yes, it's a CR2032 battery, available pretty much anywhere. The standard advice is to get ones that have a smooth negative side face (i.e. not Rayovac).

Thanks guys it was the batteries. I find it amazing that both fob batteries died at the same time. (Car purchased July 07) Changed one at a time and now both fobs work again. Car was last driven only a few days before and all was well! Car only driven 7 months and then garaged for winter
No clue as to why the car would not start when I placed the fob in the glove compartment spot, or why the car started twice after turning the headlights on and off. That worked 2 times and then that did not work either.
FWIW taking those fobs apart was difficult, but getting the two parts back together was rough, thought I was going to break the plastic I was pushing so hard. That O ring inside seals real good!
Same thing happened to me last month. 07/A6 Sounds like a FOB battery is good for about 5 YRS.
2007 Coupe here and the same thing happened to me several months ago. Changed the battery in the Fob 1 (only one I use) and everthing works fine now. Battery appears to have about a five year life with only occasional use.
