Several years ago, someone took the alternator bracket and milled out the top side next alternator and it looked very nice. Winter is coming, so I bought another bracket from Parts Taxi and was going to try and replicate from memory.
Has any one tried to anodize the bracket and the alternator case?
Anodizing the cast aluminum won't produce very good results. I used to have anodized valve covers, fuel rails, brackets etc..Everything was a different shade of red
Eventually I powdercoated everything, including the alternator bracket and the alternator housing. You really need a pro to disassemble/rebuild the alternator. The stator inside the alternator is set in epoxy and has to be very precisely reset...I could only find one guy that could/would do it.
Here's a few pics. Alternator housing was with my rebuilder when first pic was taken.
The two posted coil covers will make a pair of great steamers.
To operate, before the drive, load up whatever you like to eat and wrap them up in foil packs, strap them to the valve covers. When you get to where you want to go, food will be ready!
