Hi fellow members, here's the story. My car was acting up yesterday. After driving the car around the block, I tried to turn the engine off. I go to push the off button but the car wouldn't shut off. I had to pull the power train relay to shut the car off. After fiddling with the car here's the situation.

1. Crank the car on. (works)
2. Turned the car off. (works)
3. Open then close the door and waited a few seconds inside the car, to make sure everything turned off. I then heard a clicking noise as if the push start was trying to engage. So I repeat the process.
4. Crank the car on. (works)
5. Turned the car off. (works)
6. Open then close the door and while waiting for the clicking noise I decided to depress the clutch. Few seconds pass the car cranks on WITHOUT me pushing the ignition switch. NOW THERE'S THE PROBLEM.

Also I did notice that I had to push the button twice to crank when it normally took one push. Upon other testing of the car, sometimes when I turn the car off it would turn off for half a second and crank on right away. It's as if the ignition switch has gone haywire.

I did order a new ignition switch so it'll be a couple days before it gets here but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem or maybe any other route I should look over that I haven't done.

Ive checked all fuses and they were all good. New battery with a full tank of gas. Not that I think the gas has nothing to do with it.

Have not experienced your problem but my initial thoughts while reading your post were a stuck ignition switch, and then a faulty switch. I think you are on the right path replacing it.

Yea, hopefully I'm down the right and only path to this solution. Was hoping anyone else has ever had this problem can chime in.

Just read about 20+ threads and none were pertaining to my problem. Just ones where the switch fell in and how to remedy that problem. My car is apart and ready to install the new switch once it gets here Thursday. I also remember reading that the fob doesn't need to be reprogrammed for the new switch. Can anyone confirm this?

I agree with you and the others. It sounds like the switch. Keep up posted.

Just finished replacing the push start button and ALL IS GOOD!!! It was the switch and only took me maybe 30 minutes to replace from start to finish. I did take it out for a spin and it shut off correctly and everything is working fine and dandy.
