The Z06 is the same car as ours, and looks like it has a removable roof from the outside. The roof is probably the exact same as ours, with the exception of the Z07 package. I bet the Z06 roof has brackets that allow it to be bolted down, rather than pins secured with levers, like our car. A Z06 owner who has removed the liner should be able to clear the speculation .
Does anyone know if you can use a Z06 roof on standard C6 if you use Z06 roof mounting brackets?
Thanks
I'm not sure what you're asking.
There are three roof mounting tabs welded to the Z06's aluminum roll hoop. The back of the roof panel bolts to these tabs. The tabs are absent on the steel-framed car.

Thanks! You answered my question. My roof is starting to crack (I have a bigger tunnel plate) and since I never take it off, I thought I would get a Z06 roof and bolt it in.
As you can see from the photos I took(and posted) the halo has three brackets welded to the halo. The magnesium roof frame is then bolted to the brakets with two bolts each. The Z06 and the ZR1 have a aluminum frame and the three brackets are aluminum. Your car has a steel frame so you can't just weld the aluminum brackets to the steel halo(even if you get them from GM, which you can't). You would have to fabricate brackets from steel and that would be very expensive as you would need the aluminum brackets from a wrecked Z06/ZR1 as patterns.

I highly doubt it is Mag, probably an aluminum casting. The liability would be huge, the reason they stopped making rims out of Mag. That catches on fire, very difficult to put it out.

It is magnesium, as is the steering column support and the engine cradle. Also the optional wheel for the C5 was made of magnesium, and the valve covers of the C4 were made of magnesium. Many auto companies use magnesuim, BMW for their engine blocks, etc
To help you get up to speed(and out of the high school chemisty class where burning very thin strips of magnesium is all the rage) here is some reading material...

Erroneous information!
My '90 motorcycle valve cover is magnesium and never burn yet.

Ever turn titanium on a lathe? Resulted chips can have spontaneous combustion sometimes, or you can take the chips and light it up with a match - instant burn that produced super bright light! That phenomena will not gonna stop me from using titanium.

To OP - there's a will, there's way. If I want the Z06 roof on my C6 - I can make that happen, custom steel brackets can be made, Tig that to halo and take it from there. Just like running a milling machine - only limitation is imagination.
