I've had this happen 2 times in the last month. I have a 2005 LS2 Coupe Manual.
I get into the car, push the button, no start up or lights. then maybe 2 seconds later 3 ticks and everything comes alive and the car starts. Prior to this issue I've had Column Lock message, I push the accessary button the car starts.
Sounds like the battery needs replacing. The Corvettes of Houston steering wheel lock eliminator for around $100 would be a good investment. It's very easy to install.

Any hints? Maybe a loose ground? Help Please
The car is just looking for the fob. There is a million quirks with this car regarding fob placement and detection. So Im sure its normal to a degree. Hell my 2011 GS does the same weird things.
Just to save a few bucks, I'll try the brake thing and play with the key fob placement.
The battery was with the car when I bought it in 09 and probably in a couple years before that; Optima Red Top. I think and new battery is in order. Any thoughts on replacement battery? I hear good and bad about Optima.

I just replaced my Optima RED top that was 5 1/2 years old. It was still working I just thought it was time.
