I read a few posts on here to know that there is one bolt that takes forever to get out because of clearance issues. I believe some have elongated the hole in the bracket to an oval after removing the bolt so that future removals are easier by allowing the pump to move.

Look at some posts where a cam swap took place for instructions.

hmmm ok, i've also looked around and found that someone took off the power steering resivior to get access to the bolts that hold the pump on and just pull the power steering pump off alltogether...can anyone confirm?

Its a serious pain to remove. I took off the reservoir to access the bolts and while it was off I made the bolt holes into slots to make it easier next time around.

I knew that I had read that somewhere. Pretty ingenious.

When you slot the holes, curious as to the direction - up, down, left or right? All the holes? Straight slot or radial? Using machine or rat tail?

Please elaborate!

I remove the 4 bolts that hold the bracket assy. to the head with a wrench. It helps to have the water pump removed first. Then you can remove the pulley it needed.

Go to autozone and rent/borrow the pulley puller.. It's better than a cramp from one flatting the hidden bolt!!

I know there is an easy trick to removing the rack and pinion, this might clear out some room to get to the pulley? I'd imagine you might be lucky if you can remove the pulley without the radiator out of the way if your using a long puller.

To take the rack and pinion off, jack up the frame, loosen the front subframe bolts, unbolt the tierods, then unbolt the rack, use a screw driver to pry the subframe down a little more, and you can slip the rack out through the side of the wheel well.

Well it wasn't easy, and the parts that should have been easier weren't, but I got it changed from the top this morning. Went back together a lot easier than it came appart, except for the parts that should have been easier and werent!!!
