I am having a problem with my car at idle. I put a Edelbrock 1591 kit on the car.I also did a American Racing exhaust,MTI stage 3 cam and a 2800 stall in the car at the same time. The car starts fine and stays running as long as I keep it at 900 rpm or higher. If I just let the car try to idle if just dies. I have not put a tune in the car but i figured it would at least idle. Is this normal or does it sound like i have a vacuum leak?
So that sounds normal then? I was going to put the tune that comes with the charger but they were closed so i didnt have an unlock code for the programmer.
No its all brand new. I just have never had one act like this. I am use to playing with foxbody Mustangs and I have never had any do this. This is the first LS motor I have ever worked on and I will say.I like them alot other then this issue.I just didnt want to put it in the tralier to have it tuned to find out i have another issue.

What "unlock" code are you expecting? The handheld tuner is not locked unless it has been previously used on another car. If it has, the tuner is married to the ECU of the car it was originally used with. The only way to "unlock" it is to restore the stock tune in the original car it was married to.
There are a handful of specific tuning areas that need to be tweaked for a cammed car to run right. The Edelbrock tuner will not address any of those. The tune in the handheld was designed to work with a car that has no other mods. The car needs to be fully tuned for the mods you have.
If you are expecting the car to run OK with the stock tune after you've added a supercharger, headers and a cam...it will never happen.
Ok I will check the tuner out again then. I thought it download a tune but my buddy said that it just pulled and stored the factory setting. He was saying that the the book said we had to call Edelbrock to have them email the tune file. I know it will need a good tune i would just like it to idle a little but I just finish putting it together and side it in the trailer and take it for a tune.

Even with the Edelbrock tune installed it won't idle because of the cam. You are going to have to take it to a tuner after you install the Edelbrock tune.
