Default Wheel question....Help please...

I have the stocker 5 spoke chrome wheels on my '08 coupe, but I'm going to go with the rear widebody panels so that I can run bigger tires (Z06/ZR1 size) on the back. I like my stock wheels (at least for now) and want to just keep the fronts and get matching wider rears.

My question is.... Are there 5 spoke stock wheels available in the wider size/offset that will work on my car with the widebody kit and match my fronts? I suppose there are aftermarkets, but they need to be at least as good as stock quality (and match the front stockers of course).

I have heard mine can be "widened" but have also heard that this will leave the stock offset and they will not fit under the widebody kit the way Z06 wheels would.

I also considered just finding some good Z06 or GS wheels as a set, but I am NOT planning on putting the wider front panels on, so I don't think the stocker Z06/GS wheels would fit properly with the stock front panels...though I could be wrong.... Can anyone give me some help/info on this?? Thanks..

I have never seen a repro wheel that exactly matched the 5 star Chrome.

To get a correct offset & width F & R you'll have to find an aftermarket supplier that sells the same style wheel in C6 and C6 Z06 sizes. And the same vendor will have to let you mix and match sizes.

Good Luck.

Or you could have your stock rear wheels widened. Since all the extra width would be to the inside you would then need to use a spacer to move the wheel out to the correct position.

That is correct - they did not make any stock Z06/GS/ZR1 size wheels in the base C6 style.

Okay.... So how 'bout fitting Z06 stocker types to my base c6 with only the REAR widebody panels and stock c6 base front fenders? Will the fronts work? Anyone know or have this configuration? Any pics if you do?? Thanks

Because ZO6 front wheels are wider than base front wheels and have a different offset they will stick out if used with base front fenders, they are made to be used with wider ZO6 front fenders.

I think you could make this work. The fronts would need to be repo z06 style wheels in base C6 size.

Such as these

Check with Corvettes of Houston. They show Z06 style in C6 & Z06 sizes at reasonable prices.

So then repro will be the way I have to go..which sucks...but it is what it is. Are the repro wheels as solid (read as "safe"!) as the stockers? I don't track the car, but are they safe enough that you COULD track a car with repros? Then just on to find some that don't break the bank I guess. Was hoping to go the other route because keeping the stocker fronts would obviously be cheaper..
