Default 2005 a4 to m6 conversion

I've been seriously considering doing this because from everything I've read so far, the manual will just be funner and would out perform any auto available for the car on a road course. I would only need a tranny capable of handling 600 HP TOPS and even that is pushing it. So here are my questions.

Exactly what transmission should I get for the swap that still isn't going to cost me a fortune?

I live in virginia and doing the work myself is out of the question, so what shops are available to do the work for me?

Where can I affordably get all of the misc. Parts needed for the swap?

About how much would it cost?

I already have a couple of grand into the car, so just selling it isn't going to be worth it either I've already searched the topic and most of the threads I find are old.

Trade your car for a 6m. You'll be money ahead.

I agree. For the cost of a transmission transplant, you could most likely trade up to a 2008 LS3 with a 6M. Then start your engine modifications with a larger, stronger engine, and a stronger TR6060 transmission in place that will hold more horses then the T56.

It would be well over $10K parts and labor to convert it over. Get 06 up M6, 05 also has the weakest diff compared to 06 up.

thats one of the things about later model cars, not as easy as it was back in the day
we've converted many cars from autos to standards (Vega's, Chevelles, Novas, Firebirds, etc)
piece of cake (provided you had all the parts of course)

i'd still imagine its doable with something like the C6, but i gather the price range and headache factor go up
