hi all, i want to do a cam and torq. convert. on my 12 gs vert 6a
what is the biggest cam i can put in with stock heads? no track
use weekend show car only thanks m kraz
235/239 is what Texas Speed says is the biggest on ls3 heads without flycutting. They have a new one out with improved lobes that allow you the 235/239 .641/.615. You can read up on it on their site. Im going with this one on my ls2 with ls3 top end.
why do you want the biggest? if you are looking for sound and something fun on the street, get a mid level cam and tighten the lsa to get some hard chop out of it. have your tuner set the idle for an aggressive sound and enjoy the drivabilty of the smaller cam. it may even make close to the same power as the larger cam but have more low end grunt. bigger is not always better.
222/242 for an n/a cam? I wonder what that cam would have over a 222/230 cam with the same LSA.
The LS3 heads have such a low EX./IN. flow ratio....60% range; not
because the exhaust sucks but rather because the IN just flows so well
Guys with headers and cat backs usually run 12-16 more on the exhaust
lobe but the OP sounded as if he still had stock exhaust (dual mode ??)
but with the flow hindered manifolds this cam would really shine and
make great stealth power. By all means not the biggest he could use
but rather a decent runner considering the info given.
