Rear Hatch Button ?
2005 coupe the rear hatch would not open from the button on the rear bumper. I took the button out and found it was stuck in. I tried cleaning it but when I put it back together it was still stuck in.
I bought a new GM button installed it back in the car and plugged it in. The hatch will not open from the button. It will open from the dash button or the fob.
Check the "Trunk Release" fuses (there are 2) in the pass. foot well (see page 5-88 in your Owner's Manual).
If those are okay, next step should probably be the electrical connector at the button assy. Check for corrosion, loose wires, etc, and if you have a multimeter check the circuit.

I'm looking at disabling the dashboard button that opens the trunk.
I'm going to guess that pulling one of the 2 fuses might do the trick.
Then I can lock some things in the trunk and leave the top down without someone being able to reach in and pop open the trunk.
I am VERY surprised that button is not automatically deactivated when the car is locked.
Or with the fob in range... but then it becomes annoying not being able to open the trunk in your garage without the fob . But yes, locking the car should definitely disable it indeed, especially the convertible. Although somebody could easily reach in and unlock the car, no? Ha ha.
