Looked at a 2008 JSB at a dealer today. Has SW headers w/ high flo cats going into stock NPP mufflers and MSD plug wires , NGK plugs. No crank pulley wobble. Its an auto.
With these apparent mods it seems that the previous owner had an idea of bolt on mods to use.
The one baffling question I have is that it seems he had some type of aftermarket intake on it before. Current intake is stock, however the mystery to me is that the previos owner cut out the air dam in the front which angles the air into the radiator so his aftermarket CAI can fit down behind the lower front valence air flow. I hope I explained that correctly....Is this a normal mod to do ? I looked into the engine bay and could see the ground in front of the radiator..
The car is strong but it seemed the tranny was not tuned.
In the Drive position it seemed to hesitate when I would punch it. Now I am not saying its not oparting correctly because I don't know how to take advatage of the auto in a vette. I put in the S postion and paddle shifting is was OK. I assume that the D position is just like a normal shifting transmission . I had a lightning before and the tuner tuned it for the shifting points and it hit real good . This tranny in the vette did not seem to have a line pressure increase for shifting that is all. The car is strong and sounds wonderful when NPP mode kicks in . It just feels like my LS2 6sp feels better. Make sense?
The JSB has both fwd and aft oxygen sensors w/ an extension for the rear sensors and I assume that the previous owner had a tune in it for the mods that I could visibly see when I had it on a lift.
By chance did the previous owner have a stall converter installed? Mine had a 2800 rpm stall put in by the previous owner so it feels like the transmission slips (because it does) before engaging.
If the hole in the radiator shroud is wider at the bottom than the top, it most likely had a Vararam CAI and someone put a stock airbox back on it.
Assuming you like extra performance, because you bought this car, then the best bet is to install another Vararam. Most likely the car is tuned for one anyway.
