Default Clutch help!

I have my 2008 Z06 in a shop for a clutch install and they are telling me they need a special Transverse spring compressor to remove the rear spring.
Is there any way around this?
Where can buy or borrow one of these tools?

You don't need the tool. Go to a shop that does Corvettes.

The spring should not be touched for a clutch install. Find a shop that knows their way around late model Corvettes or i can see them causing you more problems.

The entire drivetrain/rear cradle gets removed as one piece. They don't know what they are talking about. As the others have said, take your car elsewhere or do it yourself with a buddy.

Sounds like this shop has no clue what they're doing. +1 for finding another shop asap before your car ends up worse off than before you brought it in.

The hours are really going to add up if they take the whole rearof the car apart part by part.

Everywhere I have looked it up shows removing the rear spring.
Several threads on here discuss it.
Has anyone done this or are you all jumping on the take your car elsewhere bandwagon?
timd8 thanks for the informative post

Thanks for the help everyone. I am going to the shop to talk to them today.
I may end up taking it somewhere else. They already have the exhaust off and are part way into it so I am not sure what to do.

You may want to have them install a Tick remote bleeder while it is apart.

You will be glad you did it.
