Dropped the oil pan, engine in the car, and want to take a look at the main bearings. I'm trying to take off the center main cap, but it's not as easy as I had hoped. Took out all 6 bolts, of course. It wiggles a little front to back if I force it, but won't come out.
Is there a trick to getting it out? I tried taking off one of the side bolts on the cap next to it hoping it would releave some squeezing pressure, but didn't help much. Will it be easier once I take all the bolts out of all the caps?
Also, it seems there's no way to take out the rear main cap without taking the rear main seal housing off, which means a clutch job on top of all this work... Is that correct?
I tapped a lot. It's wiggling forward and back as much as the thrust bearing will allow, but I can't figure out how to pry to force it out. Not much room down there.
