well, i actually have a brand new LS2 chain that i bought and never used.
i guess my question is.... it is new and a direct replacement from what i got. should i throw a hundo at a C5R chain? or just use the new LS2?
also i would like opinions on upgrading to a high volume oil pump

Reason: added
Since you going through all the effort, I would change the chain. It's relatively low cost extra and zero additional work. I'd also consider the C5R chain for added reliability.

Absolutely!!! I lost my motor last March due to a broken timing chain with an ASP pulley (best guess with input from Jason Katech). And that was with a C5R timing chain. Run a search if one of my treads back in the March or April 2012 timeframe for details.
