Default Quaife Diff

I am thinking of putting a Quaife diff in my car. Does anyone know if C5 is the same as a C6? Most other parts are the same.

Thanks!

Tim D.

I don't know if it's used much in autocross, but I'd expect more in road racing would. Maybe post the same question in AutoCross/RoadRacing for some suggestions.

The Quaife limited slip is usually used in transaxle applications since the fluid used in a transaxle has to lubricate the transmission gears AND the differential gears. The fluid used for a clutch type limited slip doesn't work well as a lubicant only for a gear type differential.

They have one for a C5 but they don't show a C6.

Thanks!

if youre going to get a clutchless diff, take a look at torvec.
Some roadracers that have tried both reported better performance over the quaife unit.

Its not for sale yet....everytime they get ready to release it, they want to make an improvment or do more testing with it for longevity.

I'm going to wait until its in the field for awhile before I buy...unless they want to give me one for testing

I have to take that back. I talked to them today. Very nice people with a history of innovation and success. I hear that in testing, their diff was worth a second a lap. That is a huge number. I am old and slow, but any help I can get is a plus!

Is that compared to the stock diff or a Quaife diff?

OK, here is what I did. I bought the Quaife diff, 3:73 gears from RPM cut to take a ZR1 pump, side cover to bolt the heat exchanger to, heat exchanger, oil lines, a Z06 output saft and seals.

Next project is to get it all installed...

I bought an RPM diff with 3.42 gears and quaif. I don't notice any difference other than gearing. It does smell hot every time I drive though.

You must have an auto, the manual comes with 3:42, so I went with 3:73 and a cooler. Sounds like I need the cooler!

Good luck on the Torvec, I have been waiting three since they said it was available.

Yes the C5 and C6 Quiafe is the same unit, unless you are going to go to the C6 ZO6 which is larger and will not work.

Thanks!

I talked to Torvac and the one guy that I know got one said it was great, the best they ever tested. A fellow at work had a new, in the box Quaife, that was listed for sale on the forum, so I bought it.

Now I just need the gears to arrive.....
