I purchased a 2008 Atomic Orange Coupe w/F55 last week that came with stock painted wheels and almost new Michelin tires. I also have a new takeoff set of 2012 OEM chrome wheels & Goodyear tires. My 2012 set does not have tire sensors so I will need to break the my 2008 wheels apart or buy new sensors. So I have to decide which tires to keep and which to sell. I purchased the 2012 set for the wheels only.
2008 Wheels (On Car)
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus ZP Ultra High Performance All-Season
All tires around 9/32 - 10/32
Tire Rack price for 4 new- $1,182
2012 Chrome Wheels
Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar EMT Max Performance Summer
All Tires around 9/32 - 10/32
Tire Rack Price for 4 new - $1,746
I will be selling my 2008 Painted Wheels and either set of tires. I also plan on selling this Corvette later this year for a new C7 and expect to drive no more than 2,000 miles before I sell. Most of the miles will be highway.
My questions:
Which tires should I keep and/or which ones will be easier to sell
Should I mount the tires on the 2008 wheels or sell them separately
Suggested pricing?
I'd end up with the Michelins on the car with the wheel of your choice. The GY Supercars are crap as far as I'm concerned, I burned through 3 sets of them before I wised up and went with Michelin.
I've had both types you mention. If max cornering is your bag, then you should stick with the Goodyears and just suck it up for the noise and harsh ride. They'll wear out soon enough anyway...
If you car is a DD or cruiser, the Michelin A/S will be quieter, softer, and last about 50% longer than the Supercars.
