Default 2006 C6 Oil Filter

Recently purchased a 2006 Base Corvette LS2 and am planning to change oil soon. I looked at all the stock oil filters available but they seem small.

Is there an Oil Filter with slightly larger capacity than the stock size filter I can use in place of it? I know it will be slightly longer.

Or should I just stock to the stock size filter ?

I am new at this so your thoughts or input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

There is a longer ac filter but there is not enough ground clearance for it.

Default Oil Filters

There are several good filters out there: Wix, Mobile, and some others. I use the K&N HP1017 for my LS3. I believe the LS2 takes a HP1007. K&N oil filters have a nice 1 inch nut on the end that makes them much easier to remove and they filters well.

The 1" nut on the end of the K&N filter makes it worth it, especially on a car that's a pain to crawl under even on ramps.

I generally stick with the AC-Delco PF46 on the LS2 Vettes.

Kind regards,

Thanks Jordan,

Will consider all filters including AC-Delco....Checking into the different top brand filters they all seem to be good if you pick the top of the line.
Checked Mobil 1, K&N, AC-Delco, Bosch ...It's just a matter of pesonal preference.

Thanks again,

Anthony,

No problem! The K&N and Mobil1 filters are both manufactured by Champion Labs and they're great filters also. The reason I stick with AC-Delco is if GM specs them and warranties their engines for $100K they're going to get the job done.

Kind regards,

I use the AC Delco PF46 on my LS2 also. It has a few months remaining on the GMPP. I just did it this weekend. I change the oil and filter once a year due to I only drive 3,000 miles a year. I use a strap wrench to remove and replace it. It's very easy to do.

A heads-up. The 2006 LS2 like all of the older LS1/LS2/LS6 years takes the Delco UPF44, PF44 (now obsolete) or PF46 series filters or the aftermarket models that are compatible to 44 and 46 series. The 2006 LS7 engine was the first to changeover to the newer 48 series. The 2007 LS2 a year later converted to the 48 series. THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE!!! The 48 series filters use a different mounting thread pitch. According to my notes, the M1-113 is compatible for the 48 series Delcos not the 44 & 46 series. M1 does make a 44/46 series premium filter and I seem to recall that it is M1-117 but check it in the catalog first before buying blindly.

Won't fit a 2005 and 2006 LS2. The M1-113 is for 48 series compatible applications.

I believe your K&N info is correct. I know the K&N HP1017 is 48 series compatible which fits 2007 LS2 and all LS3, LS7, LS9 engines.

Checked and I know the M1-113 will NOT fit the 2006 LS2.

The correct Mobil1 Filter is M1-1107 for the 2006 LS2.
Thanks
