Default Oil temperature Sensor acting up (VIDEO)

Hey guys,

I noticed my Oil temp reading was fluctuating between -7 degrees celcius and 94 degrees celcius. Either i have a super charged super cooler or i'm in trouble and need a new part.

Please have a look at this video and give me your thoughts

That can't be right. But what was the ambient temperature? My GS runs about 140ºF at high 40s. With coolant temperature at 190º, oil temp will never get to 32ºF. Or did you change or remove you thermostat? That could be your problem. Good luck.

The temp outside was roughly -12 degrees celcius

Did not touch the thermostat.

Are you sure its not as simple as a faulty sensor?

It's obviously the sensor, or some other electronic glitch (bad connection, etc) then. The hard part is finding out what it is. Hopefully one of the experts troubleshooting that will chime in soon.

If you're getting up to 94ºC (201ºF), you don't have a dry-sump car then. Those cars have the battery in the trunk, and the oil tank where the battery usually sits. And due to their external (air to) oil cooler, you wouldn't get near 201ºF at 10ºF ambient. Good luck.
