Anybody have one of these? They say it's a "short throw shifter" Just wondering how much better it is than stock before I drop the benjies.
Anybody have anything to add?

Thanks

I love mine. It was the first thing I did to the car and it helped a lot. Install was pretty straight-forward.

Did you guys also do away with the thing that tries to make you shift from 1st to 4th? I go 1st to 3rd quite a bit but to 4th seems to defeat the purpose of the car.

MGW is an awesome shifter...Do a search for blown smart fuse to eliminate the skip shift, cost you all of a few bux

I'm also a big fan of the MGW. New shifters are adjustable for any throw length you want, but in any position the gating is just a lot better. I made my own smart fuse. I shorted a fuse on purpose, and the soldered a resistor across the top of it (2K ohm if I remember). The resistance is enought that the skip shift solenoid won't pull in, but allows enough current to flow so you won't blow an engine fault.

Yes, but I didn't know about the blown smart fuse thing. I ordered mine online. I think it was $10. The skip-shift will still show up on the instrument cluster, but it will allow you to shift to 2nd.

no comparison to the stock shifter. Shorter throws and it feels far more positive.

OK guys, thanks for all the help. I just ordered this http://www.mgwltd.com/corvette_short..._shifter.shtml and this http://complianceparts.com/c6cags-skip.html
Now wish me luck on the install of shifter.
The fuse was $17.00 American (shipped) seems like a no brainer as opposed to ANY other way to do this mod.

Thanks again. I know I can trust you guys

You won't regret the MGW purchase. Best mod around for the money.

Does the MGW shifter makes as much difference in the 2008+ C6's? I find the stock shifter/transmission in the 2008 a big improvement over my 2005 C6.

I've had one in my 06 for nearly 5 years. There is no comparison . The stock shifter is ok , the MGW shifter is extraordinary IMHO .

Bang for the buck the MGW was the best money I have spent out of a long list of aftermarket performance mods I made to my 08 C6.

Haven't driven a 05 so I don't know how the 08 compares.

That's a great question. Have a '12 GS, and other than the notchiness, which is mostly a tranny quirk, feels pretty good. Doubt the MGW makes a big (or even a noticeable) difference for stictly street driving, but let's see if we hear some comments. Since there's no free lunch, I don't want to increase noise inside the cabin at all, nor vibration... which are typical compromises of such shifters. Another obvious compromise is increased effort... unless **** sits higher than stock, which I also don't want at all. If not, wonder how much extra effort is needed. Not that I can't handle that, but sometimes feel suffers too, making the shifts feel less satisfying. Only driving one could tell. I'm always weary of testimonials that say it's better in every respect; that's simply not true. Have a good one.

I agree with you. The MGW may be good for crusing around but no so much for spirited shifting.

Way too notchy... just my 2 cents.

All people having problems with any aftermarket shifter should have done the Anti Venom Mod and that would have taken the excess spring pressure off and made the shifter feel like butter. I was able to fix my buddies MGW with just a copper spacer on the spring bolt as per the anti venom mod suggests.

You can do this on stock setup as well to get her to shift better.
