Anyone have any info on this issue. I've taken my 2005 auto to the dealer atleast 5 times within the past 3 weeks and they can't seem to fix the problem. I was driving home last night and the service active handling system came on the DIC. I was able to make it home. I uncranked the car and attempted to re-crank it. The brake pedal became stiff and sunk a little. I push the start button and the car just made a clicking sound. The dealer has replaced the battery, checked the brakes and replace the electronic brake control module. Still having the same problem. Some days i will get in the car and it will start fine. Some days it will do what i stated above and just click. This is getting frustrating.

Not sure what uncranked is but I think you mean you turned it off. I think your AH problem is a symptom of something else happening so don't focus on the AH until you eliminate some other possibilities. You can get Service AH and Service TC messages if there is something wrong with the electrical system which from your description is happening or if there is an issue with the engine control electronics. First thing to do is to get the codes read with a scanner that can read ABS codes and see what you have. Without codes you are just guessing although checking the electrical system should be high on your list of priorities whether or not you check the codes. Check the battery connections for corrosion, tight fit, etc. Check the other end of the battery cables where they make contact at the starter, and the frame ground point. Inspect the starter to see if there is anything broken. Make sure there are no high resistance shorts which are drawing the battery down.
I just got through having GM and the dealer troubleshoot this issue on my 2005 Z51 Coupe. Turned out to be the Body Control Module, are you getting numerous messages in the DIC and a comunication light in the lower L/H corner of the dash, I was. Drove down to daytona beach for the race last wekend???? No Problems!!!!
Thanks Bill. I will be sure to let the dealear know to check for those. Uncranked..... :-)
And 05C6GAC
thanks for the reply. I've read somewhere else where it was the body control module. I will be sure to mention that to the dealer to. I only received the one message where it stated service active handling system. Once I turned the car off it wouldn't start again. Anyhow the dealer sent a tow truck to pick it up today. I'm sure I won't hear anything until tomorrow evening maybe saturday if I had to guess. I will let both of you know what the outcome is. Thanks again!
I received a call from the dealer on on Friday morning and was told that they were able to crank the car once it was received. I advised the service advisor of the information i received from bill and 05C6GAC. He informed he would look into it but I haven't heard anything else since.
Well the dealer called today. The technician was finally able to duplicate the issue i was having. He thinks the brake pedal position sensor is the culprit and will be replacing it. Keeping my fingers crossed. Also was told the receiver transmitter was throwing codes and needed to be replaced. Never paid much attention to the issue he described i guess because i keep my key fob with me at all times, but I was told the tech left the fob in the car the car immediately locked and its not supposed to do that. So both keys fobs will be reprogrammed once the new transmitter and receiver is installed.

SAH can be caused by a list of sensors and yes the Brake Pedal Position Sensor is one of those. Still, you should be able to start the car even with SAH. I may run rough or surge or just not have the zip you expect, but should start, hummmmmm.
As far as the car locking with fob in the car, yes, it will if you have that option set. Mine will honk 3 times and give you about 5 seconds before it locks the doors when it realizes the fob is in the car. I am guessing that is what you mean by 'the car immediately locked'. Mine is a 2011, but i only am guessing a 2005 works the same.
hope all works out fine, i dont have a fuzzy good feeling about the transmitter/reciever replacement, just because the car locked?
maybe he meant it didnt see the fob in the car and locked it, which i guess wold make sense if the fob batteries were good.

Also, the brake pedal sensor wouldn't cause the car to run rough. If the ECM can't control torque properly you can get a SAH message. If SAH was being caused by an engine issue then the car might run rough.

This happened to my car when my dealer had it for warranty work. The cup holders are a great place to put that huge FOB, but quite often the car can't sense it there. My dealer even had the engine running, got out & closed the door, passive lock did it's thing. The dealer said "I didn't think they could do this!" Well yes, they can and will. Dealer didn't know what to do, engine idled for two hours. OnStar was active at that time and they unlocked the car. I no longer have OnStar nor passive lock. Crazy stuff.
