I Just got a new cam put in my car and it runs like a beast. Only problem I have is Its having problems turning over. If you let it sit a while it will hesitate to start but if you start it right after you shut it down it fires right up. I did drive it a little before getting it tuned so I was wondering if it was possible I fouled out some plugs or something. Any help will be appreciated.
If not in the tune file somewhere check your cam sensor.
Symptoms: cranks a while and sometimes backfires before starting.
The sensor is located on the front engine cover. Sometimes the sensor gets jacked-up from R&R'ing the cover or cleaning fluids (degreaser etc) ruins it. Also check the wiring/connector.

man thats exactly what the car does. I scared the crap out of some girls at the gas station when this thing backfired on start up. The guy that was tuning my car said he didnt know why it was doing that. Is this a expensive fix?

Labor wise, not dificult at all if you are a little mechanically inclined. You just have to pull the water pump to get an arm/hand down there to unbolt/disconnect and swap the sensor. 1.5hrs tops if you take your sweet time. Some claim to change the sensor without pulling the h2o pump but it would be difficult if even possible?
Parts are fairly cheap. I replaced both the sensor and harness/bracket. Total for parts was around $80 IIRC.
Edit: if this occured right after a mechanic swapped your cam it sounds like he farked up the sensor or possibly wiring, connector etc.
