I am the proud owner of a 2006 Vert with the A6. Although the S mode with the paddle shift capability is a nice feature, I find the shifts to be lagging and without crispness.
Here's my question: Does the shifting of the later year C6's like the 2012, 2013 still have the slow and sloppy shifting as the 2006 or has GM perfected the A6 somewhat?
I understand I could get a "Tune" but I am concerned that the longevity of the transmission might be compromised.
I read somewhere that there were some improvements made to the A6...think it was in 08 when the LS3 motor was introduced. My 2010 A6 shifts reasonable quick in S mode, not Porsche or Ferrari fast, but quick. Have not driven an earlier A6 to be able to compare.
There were updates with the '08 models and I think that is the newest "factory" tune you can put in your '06. There were also updates in '11 and '12 but those years use a different controller that isn't backward compatible.
If you get a tune from a responsible and known tuner there is no need to worry about longevity. If you decide to go that way I suggest you talk to Chuck CoW (Corvettes of Westchester). He has many happy customers around here.
