Default Driveline slippage

I have attempted to search the site however can find anything describing my issue.
It has only happened twice however I have been gentle on the car from that point.
The Vette is a 06 automatic Z51 package with 53K miles on it.

Twice under WOT acceleration at 40 mph or so the rpm ramped just as it should however the car didn’t put the power to the ground.
Each time it was entering the freeway and wanting to hit a gap in the traffic.
The first time I thought I might have gotten some wheel spin however the second time I’m sure it wasn’t a loss of traction.

The car still hooks up great from a stop. It will break the tires free in first and second gear.
No signs of unusual vibration that I have read about in the torque tube threds.

How do I diagnose the issue further? I don’t want to keep pushing until something grenades.

clutch??... When mine started to go it would slip in third under hard acceleration... Do the rpms climb faster than the speed?

That's the exact issue however I have an automatic trans.
I would have gone that direction first if it was a standard.

Nothing has been done to the car. Its completely stock.
Forced induction is on the list for this spring.

That brings up all types of questions related to the capacity of the automatic.
Can it deal with an additional 150 in the HP and Torque range?
