Default Need advice on rockers

My car (2005) A4 with a Tune, Kooks Headers, Vararam CAI, ported intake, and a 2800 FTI converter has run a best of 11.73 @ 117 mph..

I was quoted a price of $2500 for a cam (of my choice) new push-rods, dual valve springs, and new lifters & a TUNE...

The problem I'm facing is $$ I was told the above mods should get me into the low 11 sec range... I was wondering how much of improvement in ET I'd get if I just switch to 1.8 roller Rockers, do you think my 11.7x would drop into the 11.6 range/ I know it would be a lot less $$ than a cam,

bottom line should I spend "about" $1000 for the 1.8 RR or wait (who knows how long) to save enough to do the works (cam etc) and be sure of running in the 11.5 Index races..

I'd appreciate any input... bottom line it it worth spending the $$ just for 1.8 RR and new valve springs ?

Thanks...

jpee I think your answer is right there in your post. going from an 11.70 to an 11.60 not worth it in my opinion for a $1000. I have been drag racing for 42 years and the best engine builder I have come across in all these years says not to try and gain lift in rr you make it with the camshaft. in my opinion your going to be disappointed.

Thanks for your input, I see your a "seasoned" racer (same as me), & after giving it some thought, I'm tending to agree with your assessment. I'm better off waiting and getting it done "RIGHT" and be able to run the 11.5 Index!!

After thinking about it I would have no idea of how much gain I'd get by going to 1.8 RR I may only pick up .05 - 06 + the $$ for new RR & Springs...

thanks for your input...

BTW I just looked at your profile and your car is very similar to mine (you have the cam) what kind of ET and MPH have you run with yours...

Doing it once is always cheaper than doing it twice.

I can not tell you how many times I have made that mistake!

its gone 11.90 without the Fast or torque convertor on stock runflats at 118 mph. my L98 goes 10.80 at 125 with a 1.46 60ft
