Default Nav update question

Hello, I'm new, and a soon to be new owner of a 2005. I am flying out on Friday to go get my first Corvette, super excited. Anyway, I have a 13 hour drive with the car to get it home, and the FM radio doesn't work. I have read on this forum and several other forums that this issue could either be a grounding problem, or an issue with the Nav software. Several threads say there is an update to the Nav system that fixes a bug in the FM modulator.

So, my question, I see I can get Nav upgrades to get new maps and what not, but someone told me the updates to fix my FM problem are different from the nav upgrades...is this true? If so, what do I need to do to get the fix? I already got a copy of 6.0c of the nav upgrade, and I don't know if this will have my FM fix in it or not.

Any help?
Thanks in advance.

Default Things to check

1. Check the fuse.Is the radio getting electricity?

2. Do you have the radio on the proper band? AM,FM,XM
It can be on th XM band and the XM radio may not be activated.

3. The radio will play if it is in the Nav mode. You must turn the radio on when in the Nav mode. Both modes will work simultaneous.

4.The Nav radio is tricky until you play with it and learn to use it.There is a write up by one of the members that is a great tool to use. I printed out the entire write up and its in my car all the time. It is a valuable tool and in my opinion it should be printed and kept in every car equipped with the NAV System. It has saved me many hours of searching for a solution to a problem.

I hope these suggestions aid you in using your radio. Thats a long trip with out any music or the news. Congratulations on the new car and ENJOY! Rod

There was a software update for FM Static.......but I'm not aware of anything specifically for no FM at all. But this might be the one you're talking about.

If you haven't already done it, have a GM dealer run the car's VIN and get a GM-VIS report to see if this update was already done. You could also post the VIN in a new thread here asking (in the Title) for a GMVIS Report but that might take too long. Don't know how much time you have.

Anyway, here's some info and the TSB for the update:

Thanks for the replies. I live across the street from a Chevy dealer where my Brother-in-law works. I'll run the VIN over there and see if it's been installed.

Also, its not a no FM at all, it's just a lot of static.
