The holes make that a bad idea as it would ruin the radius at the entrance to each hole. That radius is important to minimize cracks starting there. Most brake manufacturers do not recommend turning rotors any longer anyway, as it just makes them thinner and more likely to warp afterwards..
They can be turned, assuming the operator understands how and has experience prior to yours. Interupted cuts are not something for amateurs.
100%. Taking off any material will cut off the top of the radius at each hole, increasing the chance of a crack starting there. The holes are already the source of cracks beginning, even with proper radiusing. This is why drilled rotors are not used on real race cars. Here's a post from BEZ06 showing some problems... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1583086034-post18.html
Thanks everyone for the comments. Was at VIR last fall and afterwards pulled the Hawk pads off and noticed some small cracks at the holes. Put a new set of stock rotors on, so though maybe I could resurface the old ones and use them at the track. But, I think its time for some slotted DBA's for the front. Again, thanks for the advice.
Does anyone think we should use aftermarket rotors with no holes? I need to replace my Z51 rotors and am curious if I should go back with GM factory rotors or some aftermarkets.
Thanks for your response, I am a new vette owner and have learned so much from all of you.

No, the bling looks good and as Bob BEZ06 said, you will not overdrive a drilled rotor in street use...but if you are going to LeMans, no drilled rotors allowed!
