Bracket Racing 101
Lesson 2: Show up with enough gas to take home the win!
I've been trying to stay bone stock and make an 11 second run, which includes keeping the car on the lower side of the fuel gauge. Well, I was practicing my reaction times yesterday along with still pursuing the ever-elusive 11-second time slip. Then when bracket racing started, I kept winning. This car is super consistent; I even ran two identical e.t.s last night - something I don't think I've ever done in all my years of racing. Anyway, I was down to two more passes and three miles to the nearest gas station. Now I have the impression that the fuel reading is "idiot-friendly", but I still got scared and left before finishing - I kept picturing being stranded on the side of the road with a stupid look on my face and the win trophy next to me
And ultimately, giving up the win and NOT risking being stranded a mile from the gas station seemed like a good idea! Oh well, it was a beautiful evening (see sunset pic) even though traction was not the greatest as my 60' shows, but one of these days maybe I'll get a nice tail wind, low DA, and a well-prepped track and get that 11-sec slip (if I don't lose patience first and cut the shroud!). And for those interested, the picture of the gas gauge was when I arrived at the gas station and the car held 16.3 gallons so I did have around 1.5 gallons left.
Anyone have a ballpark of just how much fuel is actually used on a 1/4 mile pass?
