Would still consider the build N/A... Just spoke to a gentleman last night about adding Meth to his N/A heads/cam package. With higher compression we can take advantage of still running the 93 octane, we can run a few more degrees of timing also. However, this depends on your combination a near stock compression ratio with a good set of heads, there really is no need for the additional methanol spray.
Now I can post my 1/4 mile times (in a different thread comming soon) and say that it's a N/A build!!!
Yes, just be sure to note/list that you were using the meth injection of course because regardless of whether some view it as NA or a 'power adder', it is still what most will agree a 'performance enhancing mod' usually.
IMHO a "power adder" is something that adds a significant amount of oxygen to the fuel, even though the methods may vary.
Methanol injection is merely a fuel additive that's introduced at a different point than the gasoline.
I agree, some might not but I do.
I think the problem some might have with it is that it could open the door to other potential debates on what is classified as NA or not. Such as using a remotely mounted nitrous bottle (or C02 cartridges?) to cool down a radiator, air box or even the outside of an intake manifold between passes or something.
Again, that too should still be considered 'NA legal' as well in my opinion but what if some of it makes it's way into the intake tract? Should unmetered/uncontrolled cooling agents entering your combustion chamber be permitted under NA rules?
Not the same as an alky container and pump of course but just something to think about.
