Hi All,
I'm doing my first oil change on my 2013 G/S vert. Can anyone recommend the oil I should use. In the manual it just says syn blend. Does not tell me viscosity. I have 4,500 miles on it.
Thanks, Sam
If you look deep enough, your Owner Manual will specify ONLY 5W-30 and ONLY an oil that meets the GM Dexos1 spec.
Ordinarly Mobil1 5W-30 has been keeping Corvettes running well for decades, other oils may be better or may be worse, but you and i have no ability to properly test them.
Isn't Mobile 1 full synthetic? It says to use syn blend.
I will have to re-read my manual since it was mt understanding that all corvettes recommend full syn. In any case, if it does say syn blend using full syn is better.
This is what I used in my 2005 and this is what my 2013 will get.
I'm not sure why your '13 owners manual would state it different than my '12, which specs M1 5-30W fully synthetic, but that's what I use & recommend it, unless anyone else has reason to disagree.
I also chose to use the M1 5-30W High Mileage due to the much higher levels of Zinc & Phosphorous over the plain M1 5-30W.
Just FYI, the M1 Extented Life 5W-30 meets the Dexos1 spec but the High Mileage version does not and would not maintain your engine/cats warranty if GM wanted to press the point (which is not very likely).
