Default Spinmonster Cam

Hello again all. I am sure I will get lol'd at for asking such a basic question and showing my ignorance, but my frustration levels are nearly peaked from trying to search the internet and all of its glory for answers that I know one of you guys can pound out in less than 2 minutes. Assuming you don't mind teaching us less-educated folk, of course.

I will be putting a new harmonic balancer on very soon and have been reading about different cam options for my 2007 LS2 (manual, stock everything). If the cost was feasible I would like to do both in one go. It's been about 2 hours now of wading through a bunch of senseless mumbo-jumbo and while I could decipher a good bit of it, I am still fairly confused. So I'm asking someone here to quickly tell me what the heck all the numbers associated with the camshaft mean. (I don't need any extremely detailed information, I just like to know what's going on; I hate being ignorant). After reading through several posts on here I have decided the cam that fits me best is most likely going to be the one I listed below. Ultimately I would like to achieve good gain without sacrificing drive-ability (other than playing around, I don't exactly plan on racing; it is my daily driver).

Spinmonster cam 230/234 XFI/XER 114 +2

Can someone please tell me what the heck all of that means and a very brief description of why/how the different values relate to performance? Also, does Spinmonster make these for sale or are these just specifications to get one made? How much do they run? I'd like to do all of my business through the forum if it is possible.

Also I had originally planned on putting an ATI HB on, but I really don't know if it would be money well spent considering my mild use for the car. What are some other options that y'all have opinions on? I don't really like doing things half-way, but I'm under the impression that that is basically the creme-de-la-creme of HB's. And I don't really see a reason why I would need top of the line.

Thank you in advance and I apologize if this post has been repeated over 9,000 times, I tried finding my own information before posting.

I know but I'm not knowledgeable enough to explain so I'll leave the explaining to better qualified folks here.

I'll just ask if you saw this thread in your search? Lots of good info, basic and advanced, and Spinmonster chimes in starting at post 18:

Haha, reading through that entire thread made me realize exactly how little I know about the small details of an engine. I love it, but this is about to turn into one expensive hobby. Love learning new things, bring it on!

He doesn't make the cams. Just order them from Comp cams or vendor of your choice using his specs
