My C6 has 18 front and 19 rear wheels. Could I buy a set of front(18 inch) wheels, mount a set of drag radials and put them on the rear? 19 inch drag radials are very expensive. If it would work it would be a cheap(er) way to having matching wheels for the track.

In order to get more than a 255 tire you'll need to widen the wheel.
If you're willing to forgo matching track wheels, you can get some c5z fronts (17x9.5) in order to get even cheaper DRs in 275/40/17.
I totally agree this is the best way to go. I just tackled this same dilemma. I couldn't find any 17 X 9.5's for sale or I would have done that myself. I ended-up buying repo GS rear wheels in the same stock size and put Nitto NT05R 345-30-19 drag radials on, but they were expensive in comparison to the ones available in the 17 " sizes.
