I was in the same boat, just got a cam for my C6 installed. So long as the cam is fairly mild and you use quality parts it should last no different than stock. I am sure a lot of big shops (LPE,etc) have hundreds of cars starting from the C5 days that got fairly mild set ups that the owners daily drive with out any issues and are still running strong. There was a guy on "tech, he had a LPE 383 Firebird, they installed the motor back in 95, up until 2009 it still had the original valve springs on it from LPE.

I have a buddy with a Ms4 (good size cam) in a c5 and he has had the cam since 60k miles. He dailey drives the car and is now at 147k miles with no issues at all. He also has a super stiff clutch and a straight pipe. How he can stand to drive it every day still amazes me.

About to have mine worked over by EnglandGreen here in Houston.

Cam, intake, LT exhaust and associated goodies. Good parts, good shop and proper maintenance go a long way.

Have found a few broken valve springs (run duals thankfully) so now I replace at 10k regardless.

Have you had issues with a particular brand?

First was a Patriot I believe and the second was a Comp "something" but now I run a higher end Comp and all seems well. Duals then and now.

High mileage on the LS's doesn't scare us - these motors are stout and will run for a long time when cared for properly! We baseline dyno everything before we get started, and as long as it's making appropriate power then we don't hesitate to continue modding. We've added h/c/i to cars with as little as 1k miles to well over 100k.

All of our personal vettes did fantastic as well on the longevity side - never any problems out of our h/c set ups even after 50k+ miles on those set ups.
