I own a 2006 corvette coupe ls2.
Am currently facing a problem which even mechanics around here dont know what is it..!
When its in the 6th or 5th gear and i hit the gas paddle a weird kick comes in and when i remove my foot off the throttle the same kick hits again. It only happens in 5th and 6th ... however if i gently accelerate the there will be no kick or what so ever.
I can feel the kick coming from the back. Which is either from transmission or differential.
Did anyone had this problem before.
And its an automatic.
don't really know... but my 2006 had a clunks in reverse when turning the wheel.... the folks on here pointed me to a TSB that said to drain and refill the Differential fluid.... $95 out the door at my Mechanic... he ordered the recommended GM geal oil.... problem solved immediately...... could also be a problem with 5th and 6th in the tranny, easy does it, works fine.... get on it and it slips and grabs???
Just a shot in the dark, but it might be the lockup converter locking in and dropping out. A shop with HP Tuners (or similar) could scan that while you're driving to verify. It won't happen unless the car is moving.

Not an expert just my thoughts
I am also thinking this...
I have dropped out my Differential fluid twice in the last 10K.
Once when I bought the car and again last weekend.
The gear oil was absolutely black both times and clear going in.
If the knock additive was not installed with the new gear oil, your clutches in the rear end could be grabbing/knocking.
For fifty dollars it is a quick fix to eliminate the rear end as the culprit.
I am sure your 2006 car could use fresh fluid anyways, just remember the additive.

If I can find the TSB I will post it later....
IT SAYS DO NOT USE THE ADDITIVE.... Use the part# for the oil in the TSB.... mine stopped binding immediately...

Important: DO NOT add any limited-slip additive (friction modifier). With this new fluid (Dexron LS Gear Oil 75W-90) it is no longer required to add friction modifier. If friction modifier is added, it will cause the fluid to lose some of it's friction reducing properties as well as reducing seal life.
Fill the differential with the new DEXRON® LS gear oil, P/N 88862624 (Canadian P/N 88862625).
