Default 2008 C6 throwing check engine codes

Just looking for some insight from you folks who are comfortable working on your Corvettes and could give me some advice --

My 2008 Corvette is throwing 2 check engine codes and I was wondering if you all might be able to point me toward some detailed info on how to fix.

The codes being thrown are:

P0449
P0455

Googling indicates something with the evap vent solenoid? Not sure where that is, how expensive it is, where to get the part, or how hard it is to replace. Deeper research indicates it could also be a gas gap? It's been throwing the code through several tanks of gas and I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary when taking the gas cap off or putting it back on, so just looking for some advice. I would like to avoid a trip to the dealer / mechanic if possible.

Thanks very much to you all in advance.

Well, the P0455 code is a massive evap leak. Don't remember if this was the code or not but my wife's car got a check engine light one day and the description was something along the lines of "massive evap leak". Gas cap was loose. Properly installed it, cleared the code, and it never came back.

There are several things that can cause those two codes. More than likely some occur more often than others. However, you must remember a diagnostic code doesn't necessarily tell you what item to replace. It only tells you what test failed and where to start looking for the problem. The gas cap is one of the likely failures but you should check a few things before just buying a new cap. Each of those codes has a diagnostic procedure with various tests you can perform and some that you will not be able to do.

I am attaching the procedures for those diagnostic tests some of which are pretty simple (requiring only a test light) and may help isolate the problem quicker than just throwing parts at the car. If you are a little adventurous you can force some voltage or ground conditions into some of the circuits thus duplicating what the Tech 2 would do when it commands certain things on, however, you do need to understand the circuits and how to apply either a short to ground or voltage without damaging things further.

I just ordered the vent solenoid today, mine was giving the same code. I It took it off and put 12v to it, and the solenoid did nothing. part was 18.00 shop price or 25.00 without discount.

Default P0449 Code

Mine was a bad canister vent solenoid - easy to replace - good pictures on the forum - bought one from Rock Auto, $17 plus $7 to ship. Had to disconnect battery to clear code.
