Anyone on here running the MF103 from Halltech? Their website says it doesn't need a tune (although I'm planning to get one done by COW anyhow) but I would like to know if this thing is as good as they say out of the box. I should get my new GS in a few days and I think this is going to be the first mod.
I have it on my 11 GS. It fit perfect out of the box and using the Beehive, I recorded slightly lower IAT temps, and it sounds better than the stock LS3 intake. If you are expecting big gains out of just adding any CAI by itself though, you may be disappointed.
If you are planning to mod or race, before you invest in any item, think out your finances and your end goals, and then build accordingly toward that end goal. If you are going to just drive on the street, $500 for a CAI only is not going to get you much, if at all....the LS3 flows air pretty good stock.
If you aren't looking to make many HP changes (headers, cam, gears, etc), I would suggest get the car tuned first before changing anything....that may wake it up enough ....and it will save you buyers regret from buying things twice because what you buy now wont be best for your end plan. Most tuners will retweak you tune if you decide to add something like a CAI down the road.

I installed the MF103 first then tuned with the CAI on to maximize the benefit of the mod. Why tune twice before and after?
Personally, I would wait before tuning a new car to make sure you do not have any powertrain warranty issues because a tune may void the warranty.
Thanks for the replies guys. I am not expecting a big gain from adding a CAI. I've installed enough K&N, Volant, Vararam CAIs on various vehicles to know better. My concern was whether I needed to have the car tuned for it to run right as the write up sounded almost too good to be true.
I will also be taking the car outside the US so the warranty will be void anyhow.
Thanks again for your input. I'm going to order one of these tomorrow and then get a tune to optimize the gain from it.
I'm going to then install Pfadt headers, then maybe a cam and an E-force.

You will not be disappointed. Check out this Z06 with JUST the MF103 and DRs.
Is the Deep Hive shroud available now? If so, is it a straight bolt in and what is the price? BTW: I think that you should package that with the CAI and the Beehive as a complete kit.

Yes, $159.00 plus shipping. We do package it with the Super Beeline package.
We are testing it on our 660 HP ULZ 3.9 this weekend. It has no provisions for the oil cooler lines, so if ordering, mention oil cooler or no oil cooler so we can cut those holes.
We thought about doing these in carbon fiber, but out of site, makes the 1.5lbs weight savings sorta irrelevant.
They bolt on just like stock and allow much more airflow to the bottom of our Super Filter with the concave deephive.
How does the the new deep bee hive shroud affect radiator cooling efficiency? I am looking to replace my Vararam due to overheating problems durring hot Texas Weather in stop and go traffic. I don't mean to talk bad about Vararam, the intake works great while driving and the guys there are very helpful. It just isn't practical in my application.

The deephive is actually the radiator baffle from the ZR1/Z07/Carbon setup with slots for cool air. It does not have anything that blocks airflow, and the radiator should be able to get the same airflow in stop and go traffic for sure.
