I have a 2008 with 68,000 miles on it. Probably around 55,000 miles, I started having a rattle in the rear end. Where the torque converter is. It does it when I'm sitting still (red light, parked) and it'll do it whether the transmission is in gear, neutral, or in parked position. It did it every now and then at first and now it's constant. It SHIFTS PERFECT. I found out that there was an issue posted for techs (i guess) that it's a drive shaft cover or something. They said a bolt comes loose and that it wasn't a huge issue. Anyways, Wanted to know if anyone else has had this issue... how much did you pay to get it fixed. They said it's not a huge deal, but you have to have 2 transmission jacks and it's just a pain to deal with, since the whole transmission has to be dropped. OH! and it doesn't rattle when I'm actually moving. JUST SITTING STILL, with the transmission in any position.
Also, this has happened before and I just kept driving it until it started working again. My gas level gauge shows empty. I filled it up. It says "Service Fuel System" on the dash. Any help would be nice.
Thanks!

Reason: Forgot detail.
The rattle does sound like a drive shaft/torque tube issue. I don't recall seeing anyone with an auto trans have problems before. Might have and just forgot but seems to me to be rare for autos.
The fuel gauge can "probably" be fixed by running "at least" 2 tanks of top tier gas supplemented with a bottle of Techron. The Techron has proven effective at cleaning the crud off the fuel sending units. And might want to check the gas cap as possible source for the DIC message. Could be something else though. Could try reading trouble codes to find out.
Yeah, I've had the gas cap barely on before and had an engine light, so I checked that. There's another auto in town... 2006... that had the loose issue on the drive shaft. Thanks for the info!
