Default Help w/replacing DIC Buttons

I replaced the button that opens the drivers door last week... The chrome plastic piece just popped off with a small flat blade screw driver... I replace the button (the paint was coming off)

Now I want to replace the 4 (I think its 4) buttons on my DIC cluster to the right of the steering wheel.. I contacted GNPARTSHOUSE & got an E mail back from Patric and he said its a one piece item...

OK .. I have no problem with that I'll just replace all 4 buttons (about $48.00) for the cluster...

Does anyone know how to remove & replace the cluster (DIC) buttons... They also have a plastic chrome piece the holds the buttons in place.... Does the cover pop out the same as the one for the door handle? Can I pop it out w/a flat bladed screwdriver?

I'm assuming once I get the cover off its will be just a plug & play to replace the buttons (the paint is coming off two of them) but I have to buy all 4 no prob they will look new...

Any help or diagram would be appreciated...

The instrument trim panel comes off then either side DIC / HUD pods unscrew from the back.

I need to do the same thing JP, my light is out on the bottom right side. I read I can solder in a new bulb and I'm handy enough to do that, but too lazy.

If you need more detailed instructions, search for the C6 column lock thread, you have to remove the pods to get at the column lock so you'll find the info there. I did it but don't remember how, seems you have to remove the knee kicks first then there are screws but don't hold me to that.

Keep us posted how it goes.

p.s. have you bought your 4000 stall yet like Dennis, Stanger and Justasheet are all running now? Low 10's with a cam.

The gage cluster arrived today... do I just use a screwdriver to "pop" the chrome bezel that holds the buttons in place ? A small flat bladed one or I can go to a local body shop, & think there is a tool that they use to pop off moldings etc...

If thats correct, then I'll most likely need a screwdriver either flat blade or Phillips to remove the buttons themselves... ??

Thanks guys,,

all you have to do is pop the bezel that goes around the speedo off. start at the bottom left side and work your way around clockwise until you have the whole thing disengaged. there are 2 screws that hold the set up on from the back. I believe that they are Phillips but I don't really remember. I have popped that bezel off at lunch in the parking lot of my work with no tools. you just need to be careful with the part that goes over the speedometer. Do not force anything... it does take some pressure just take your time.
