Default Buzzing Noise After H/C Install - Video Inside

This video is of the first time I started the car. Ls2 with ported ls3 heads on 040 gaskets, EPS cam, ported ls3 manifold, ls9 injectors, halltech intake with the LS7 maf, Huron Speed Longtubes, etc etc. PTV clearance checked out great.

The engine has less than 40k on it so I left the original timing chain and oil pump on it. Logs show good steady oil pressure at idle. I'm actually really impressed with how well it idled for making no changes to the tune save for injector data and LS7 MAF data.

When I walk to the front of the car, you can hear a light "buzzing". I don't want to call it "grinding" because I don't think it is a deep enough sound. It reminds me of a baseball card in the spokes of a bicycle. Definitely not a valvetrain noise. The frequency is much too high. I'm thinking crank speed.

Any ideas? Never heard anything like it and I'm hoping someone can share some knowledge before i start hunting. My plan for tonight is to run it without accessories and go at it with a stethoscope.

Thanks,

Jack

I'd call it a screech, from what I'm hearing on the vid. Sounds like a bad bearing on the tensioner pulley, maybe? I've heard many of those over the years... Like you said, take the belts off and start it to see if its still there, and go from there.

The screech is something different. The noise I'm talking about is almost like someone spinning a ratchet at high speed, or the freewheel of a bicylce. I didn't realize how hard it is to hear if you're not listening to the video on good speakers. playing it on my phone I couldn't even hear it. I will have to try and get a better video.

I hear it. Sounds like injectors running or maybe a PCV valve buzzing. I had a sound like that on my GT500 and it was the PCV valve buzzing like a bee. Sounded just like that.

Got it. P/S fluid was low. The pump was just making a bit of noise. topped it off and it's all good.
