Default from cam swap to engine swap

After finding the initial camshaft damage and lifter damage I went ahead and pulled the short block. It is a good thing that I pulled it because the cylinder wall on #7 was damaged as well as the piston. At this point I decided it was best to just scrap the whole thing and start over. I called ERL and bought a dry sleeve short block M2 and it will arrive next week. Because of the longer sleeves I could have gone as big as 454 but I settled for a 427 CI. The lifter, balancer, rockers, pushrods, plugs, valve guides, springs, etc will be replaced with new parts. With any luck I will have her back together in the next couple weekends.

Yes it was a LS3 block. The crank and rods are fine but the block would need a sleeve so I just decided to get a new short block with dry sleeves.

A little JB Weld and some work with a file and hone and it's good as new.

What do you think caused the damage to #7 piston & sleeve?

They took a new block and did a dingle ball hone job and then assembled the engine. If you look at the picture of the cylinder real close you will see there are no hone marks. The rings were gapped at 35 top and 40 second, which is to big for even N2O if you ask me. It was a poor assembly job that led to this failure in my mind.

Hey, I have the crank and rods out of my old stroker engine and they are in perfect conditions, the bearings looked new if anyone is interested.

I start putting her back together next week so if you have any suggestions or advise please fire away. I was thinking of heat wrapping the transmission lines does anyone see any issues with this? The headers are coated with 3000* ceramic coating but I did not do the X pipe.

My Fast 102 is factory stock, is there anything I can do there myself? I am going to grind off all their labeling and paint the whole thing black like the factory intake
