Default Exhaust Question

I recently purchased my 2009 M6 and it has the NPP exhaust which I love. I have added the remote switch which is located in the dead pedal location, the only place to put it.

The seller of the car also gave me what he said are Z06 mufflers which have been modified. You can see (pic below) where they have been cut open and then welded back up and I assume this is to remove some of the packing?

My question is can you explain to me what was done and if these mufflers will sound that much better that I should have them installed on my vette?

Thanks in advance, love the site and love being a part of the Corvette family!

Thanks, mine are only opened up on one side and they only cut a flap instead of a window...this makes me think they only removed some of the fiberglass packing? Do some people do just this instead of the mod you did?
