I checked my 2006 Corvette with 27k miles on it yesterday and, guess what?, the harmonic balancer is wobbling like crazy. No noise like the chirping sound, but this thing is scary wobbly.
Doing the research on CF it looks like hundreds of Corvettes are experiencing the same problem with a piece of crap HB installed on everything from 2001 - 2011 Corvettes with failure occuring as low as 1100 miles. The cost of repair is from $1000 to $1500. There was a poll on one of the Wobbling HB threads and nearly 50% of responders had the problem.
I found the TSB (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...2006-c6.htmlon) on the issue on CF and Chevy acknowledges the fact that the HB bolt backs out on it's own and it tells them how to fix it...a massive effort, by the way. Bolt loosening isn't the only problem since the rubber between two pieces apparently fails. They fix it under warranty, but not if the car is out of warranty. It's apparently not a recall item.
I know nothing about initiating a class action law suit, but it looks like that is something we should look at as Corvette owners...it's just a matter of time before yours fails. Does anyone know anything about this type lawsuit?

Someone previously posted that the bankruptcy relieved GM of liability for previous design errors, they only have to honor the warranty and that's all.
