Torque tube rattle at idle on 2005 c6 manual coupe. Noise goes away when I depress the clutch and increase rpms. I suspect it is the rear bearings on the torque tube. What do you think? Over 90K miles so no chance of warranty - I'll be doing the work... Anyone done this job before and want to share any lessons learned?
Sounds rough/knocking, more like the couplers/guibos, rather than bearings.......but I have no personal experience, just many discussions and videos here over the years.
While you patiently wait for more responses, I can try to dig up some DIY's. How much experience or ability do you have to do something like this and/or how much do you think you can do?
Thanks Rick, I've dropped the tt before to replace the clutch. Was hoping the tt was okay, it looked good when I put it back in and the couplings looked good. That's why I suspect the bearings instead of the couplers.
Thank You Rick T! Those threads are very informative. I'm pretty sure it is the rear bearings on the driveshaft, just wanted to rule out a transmission problem before I dropped everything again. I am also hoping it is not a bent driveshaft - I would think the intermittent noise means bearings and not the shaft...but just guessing at this point. lol
Anyone know the part numbers for the rear housing bearings? PartsTaxi and GMPartsDirect do not list the Driveline for parts list - you have to have the part number... Thanks
