I'm new to the forum, this is my first post. Purchased an 07 with an 3LT package about a year ago with 8000 miles on it. It now has 13,000 miles on it. On a recent drive down Ca. Highway 1 from Montery to Cambria my wife could hear the brakes squeeking. I checked them after getting home and noticed the the rotors had some rounded ridges not deep but they still could be felt. I love the way the car stops but was wondering if there were better pads than what came stock. I don't race nor plan to but I would like better performance if price is resonable. My rotors are drilled, is this an upgrade or standard?
Did a search but information was confusing didn't know if it applied to my model or not.
FYI you are posting to the wrong section. This is the C5 (1997-2004) forum, but to answer you're question, no, Im pretty sure the drilled rotors are not stock on a C6 unless its a Z06. And there are always upgrades for pads. Stock are meant for longevity and quiet operation. But it does not sound like you know if the pads are stock or not..

your car is most likely is a Z51 thats why you have drilled rotors and most of them squeak, you can try bedding them again which will help for a week or 2. As far as up graded brake pad they are tons of options but most real track pads need heat to work properly and you can not get them hot enough on the street so, they will make a lot of noise on the street. we make a performance street pad that is quiet and low dust the 1521 compound. The front is $148 the rear is $128 Less 5%. you can call me direct at 216-780-8825 to order.
The Carbotech™ 1521™ is our high performance street compound. The 1521™ compound is known for its release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. 1521™ is also a very low dusting and low noise compound with an excellent initial bite. This compound's excellent linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Carbotech™ 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 800°F (426°C+). 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle or fleet vehicle. Carbotech™ 1521™ is NOT recommended for ANY track use.
Proper bedding instructions.
1.Brake from 60mph down to 30mph about 4-6 times.
2.Then let your brakes cool for about 2-3 minutes while driving.
3.Repeat step # 1.
4.Allow the brake pads and discs to cool down to ambient temperature (about 30 minutes or more).
Thanks Adam for the info, after your post I checked the codes in the glove box and didn't find the Z51 package code, the code I have indicates heavy duty brake, no further explanation. I guess the brakes and rotors could have been changed, next time I have the tire off I will measure the diameter of the rotors. When I determine exactly what I have I will be in contact for new pads.

I would think heavy duty brake would indicate Z51 but, its been a while since I have decoded these cars.
Do you have the Selective Ride Control? I thought the heavy duty brakes that came on the Z51 also came on cars equipped with the selective ride control (F55). The heavy duty brake option (larger drilled rotors with smaller diameter pistons in the rear caliper) is RPO J55.
