Default LSX Tall Deck Install

Hello, new on here and ran into a snag I think im over thinking with my new engine. So I wanted to get some out side perspective on my little issue.

Got everything together and into the car and started measuring for my push rod length. Came up with two different sizes probably due to it being cooler in the evening. One was 8.125 the other was 8.123. I know it isn't much and I'm not over concerned with that. However the tall deck is .48 taller than the standard deck LS7 I was running. Theoretically that would mean the push rod should be around 8.28. Used the comp cams 7.800-8.800 checking rod with a checker spring installed on the intake and exhaust side of the #1 cylinder.

Has anyone on here built a tall deck with the stock size cam circle? If so what was your length? Probably just being over cautious but I would rather wait a couple days to get the right rods If my math is a little off. I have searched every where online and havent come up with much.

Were the heads milled at all or are you running a thinner headgasket? Also check the deck height of the heads your using could have a slightly thinner deck than the previous heads your using.

Same heads that came off the LS7. 70cc's milled to 60cc's by advanced induction. Went with a slightly thinner head gasket since RHS didn't offer the one I wanted. .036 installed instead of the .041. Have custom diamond pistons in the lsx to give me pump gas friendly CR. ordered pushrods for it last week ill see if they work.

Can't believe there isn't much info on the tall deck LSX though. Even when I called GM about intake spacers no one had a clue what I was talking about. Had to modify my RHS ones to work. There's are designed for their 9.75 tall deck block. Not the 9.72 of the LSX. Made a huge difference. Oh well, guess I should have done my home work before I bought the 'odd' block. Hahahahaha always an adventure!

If those heads weren't milled on the old motor then the numbers sound right to me.

Got the pushrods in today from smith brothers. Quick service, and the gentleman I talked to even put up with my 1000 questions. Cheaper than buying stock rods to boot!

Anyway did a quick install and they are a little tall. Not so much that I can't use them. They just make the rockers ride a little farther forward on the intake valve than I would have liked. Guess I was just being paranoid.

Good I'm glad you got everything squared away. Good like with the setup sounds like it should run good.

I'll try and post some pics and dyno numbers once everything is broke in. If there is any interest on here for the tall deck set up.
