Default Time to start the tuning!

I have an 06 coupe bone stock with 40k.Just picked up new tires ( Hankook)and rims (replica ZR-1). From reading the various posts I can get the best bang for my buck starting with headers,an intake and a tune.I`m going with Pfadt headers catted and a 102mm Fast intake.Waiting for tuner to get back from holidays. A few things I am not too clear on. Get the Fast ported or not ,what`s the difference? Do I need a CAI and which one? Should I change the plugs at the same time? Are there any items I have overlooked . I have waited a long time to get my "dream" car and I want to get it right the first time. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Ride the wave! Bat Pig out. Thanx in advance. ps,this vette is a keeper!

All the stuff you suggest, I did to my 06. There's no question, the majority of folks use the VaraRam CAI. Header brand is a toss up, but most say the 1 3/4 inch are the best for HP and TQ. I didn't port my fast for one simple reason...resale value seems to be less when it's ported unless its done by one of the best known Corvette shops. When you do these things you can expect around 380 HP to the wheels and 400 TQ after a tune. Good luck with your project.

I have also done all the same mods you are doing. Since the cost of porting the fast 102 is so minimal, why not do it? Some guys have seen upwards of 8-10 rwhp by a good porting. You can sell your old ls2intake on eeeebay. I sold mine for $300.

I bought a plug and wire package for about 110.00 from a longtime vendor on here since my car had 75k on it.

The car picks up nicely with the mods you are doing. If you have an auto trans, a stall converter is the next must do mod. This will be my third car with a stall. I have my circle D 258mm converter going in next week with a cooler and RSD line lock.

Porting the FAST is worthwhile and worth at least another 5+ H.P. if it's done by a competent porter. When I installed my FAST I figured I had already spent 800+ big ones so I might as well spend a few more to get everything I could out of it. Member Spinmonster has extensive data on porting Fasts and can give you more specific numbers for those he has tested. Send him a PM.

You're talking almost 4k for those mods

2k for pfadt headers
1k for FAST
500 for tune
500 for CAI

Save up another 2k and get an A&A supercharger kit installed and make 175rwhp more instead of 50.

IF you have to go with those mods then definitely port the FAST. You get 50% more horsepower for only a couple hundred bucks.

OP: I did not port my FAST 102, but I wish I did. If you are in no hurry, then I would send it off to be ported.

Basically what I just installed, and I added a halltech. I couldn't be happier. I went with the porting on the fast....it is super easy for someone to do since it just comes apart, so I say go for it. With Pfadt headers, a CAI, and a ported fast you will be set up for a max effort NA car in the future. If you ever decide to do a camshaft, and maybe an underdrive pulley, you'll have all of the supporting components all ready in place.

That being said, just the CAI, headers, Fast have made the car feel absolutely amazing! I didn't change the plugs, but I did add some "heat socks" to my plug wires.

I wouldn't bother with porting. With a fast and those headers you're going to love the car. When you decide you want more power, look into a mild cam (I've done the big cam thing and it gets old) and a CAI. I miss every vette I ever sold...so don't make my mistake if its a keeper
